Howard govt accused of 'trampling democracy'

The Australian government has come under fire from civil libertarians and supporters of an Indian doctor accused of links to the failed car bomb attacks on London and Glasgow.

Critics accused it today of trampling over democracy by trying to override a judge’s decision granting Mohamed Haneef bail.
