Obama gets Secret Service protection

Black US presidential hopeful Barack Obama has been given Secret Service protection amid fears for his safety, a senior law enforcement source said today.

The assignment of a security detail for the Democratic senator, the earliest yet for a US presidential candidate, was sparked partly by racist talk on white supremacist websites, the official said.
