The collision occurred early yesterday morning in Hechi, a city in the impoverished Guangxi region, the official Xinhua News Agency reported today.

By today, 50 people were still being treated in the hospital, with four suffering serious injuries, the report said.

The accident is under investigation.

China’s roads are among the world’s deadliest.

Overloading of vehicles, reckless driving and poor road conditions are frequent causes of fatal accidents.
