One person killed in blast at Islamabad luxury hotel

An explosion today at Islamabad’s Marriott Hotel in Pakistan killed one person, police said. The cause of the blast was not yet clear.

Mohammed Mazhar, an official at the police control room in the Pakistani capital, said the explosion happened near the hotel’s car park and had caused damage to a wall by the hotel’s laundry.

Police were at the scene and initial reports indicated at least one person had died in the blast, he said.
