Six Chinese children aged six to 10 have died of carbon monoxide poisoning after fumes from a generator seeped into their bedroom at a boarding school.

Earlier reports on the deaths in the northern village of Nanyao in Shanxi province said police initially suspected possible food poisoning because the students were violently ill.
