Japan: Cult leader court appeal thrown out
Japan’s top court has thrown out an appeal by a former doomsday cult member sentenced to life for murder in a sarin attack in 1994.
Noboru Nakamura was convicted in 2001 of the murder of a fellow member of the Aum Shinri Kyo cult, abducting and killing the relative of another member, and helping the group build a factory to produce lethal sarin gas.
The Supreme Court rejected an appeal filed by Nakamura against his life sentence, Kyodo News agency reported.
