Egyptian train crash death toll rises to 58
A passenger train travelling towards a railway station in northern Egypt today collided with a second train, killing at least 58 people and injuring 143 – in the latest accident on Egypt’s dilapidated third-class railway service.
Egypt’s official Middle East News Agency quoted Minister of Health Hatem el-Gabaly on the death toll for the accident that happened at 7am local time (4am Irish time) outside the town of Qalyoub, about 12 miles north of the capital Cairo.
