Barracks boiler blast kills four soldiers

A steam boiler in a military barracks exploded today, killing four soldiers and injuring 11 in eastern Turkey, the state-owned Anatolia news agency reported.

Niyazi Tanilir, governor of the eastern province of Van, told Anatolia that the boiler was located in the barracks kitchen.

Eastern Turkey has been a staging ground of increasingly frequent clashes between Kurdish guerrillas and Turkish forces.
