Afghan police kill three Taliban fighters
Suspected Taliban militants ambushed an Afghan police patrol in southern Afghanistan, sparking a firefight that left three fighters dead, a police official said today.
One Afghan policeman was also wounded in yesterday’s battle in Nad Ali district of Helmand province, said Helmand provincial police chief Ghulam Nabi Malakhail
Elsewhere in Helmand, Taliban forces engaged a coalition convoy yesterday, wounding one coalition soldier and damaging a vehicle, said military spokesman Maj. Quentin Innis.
Coalition aircraft fired on Taliban positions, but no assessment had been made of Taliban losses. The soldier’s nationality was not released.
Also yesterday, a US-led coalition military vehicle hit a roadside bomb in Zabul province, slightly wounding two soldiers, Innis said.
