Car bomb kills six in Baghdad

A parked car bomb exploded in south-west Baghdad today, killing six people and wounding 36, police and hospital officials said.

The bomb detonated at 7pm (4pm Irish time) in the Um Al-Maarifah neighbourhood near a supermarket, Cpt Jemil Hussein of the Yarmouk police station reported.
