Pay protest police storm Palestinian govt building
Masked Palestinian police sealed off a main road in the central Gaza town of Khan Younis today and briefly stormed a government building in anger over not receiving their salaries from the Hamas-led government.
The protest was the first sign of serious discontent with the new government since it took office two weeks ago, and it reflected a growing sense of desperation in the streets of Gaza as the already impoverished Palestinians begin to feel the economic repercussions of Hamas’s rise.
