A Finnish visual artist and film maker was tonight crowned the winner of one of the world’s most lucrative arts prizes.

Helsinki-based Eija-Liisa Ahtila was awarded £40,000 after beating off eight other short-listed artists to scoop the biennial Artes Mundi, the Wales International Arts Prize.
