A US woman has given birth to quintuplets at a Seattle hospital – and now the drive is on to build the family a bigger house.

The four girls and a boy and their mother were doing well and are in stable condition, said hospital spokesman Ed Boyle. Yesterday’s delivery was by Caesarean section.

The family lives in a mobile home. Their church, the New Life Church in Silverdale, has begun raising money for a larger house, which volunteers plan to build.

Courtnee Stevenson became pregnant with the quintuplets after fertility treatments. She and her husband Mike already have a three-year-old daughter.

The babies ranged in weight from about 2 pounds, 12 ounces to 3 pounds, 12 ounces.

The babies are likely to remain in hospital for at least another month.
