A bus plunged into ravine in south-western China today, killing 23 people, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

The bus fell 100 feet into a gorge in China’s Guizhou Province at about 6.30am local time, leaving 23 dead and more than 20 injured, the agency said.

China’s roads are among the world’s deadliest. The World Health Organisation says China averages about 100,000 road accident deaths per year – about 15 per cent of the world’s total.
