China reports eight case of human bird flu

China today announced its eighth confirmed human case of bird flu, a six-year-old boy who was being treated in a hospital in central Hunan province, state media reported.

The boy showed symptoms of the disease on December 24, and is receiving treatment in a Guiyang county hospital, the official Xinhua News Agency said, quoting the Ministry of Health.
