'No fighting' near Abbas home

Palestinian police said no fighting had taken place near President Mahmoud Abbas’s house in Gaza City.

Police said there had been some gunfire, but added that it had died down. Earlier news reports said gunmen had fired a number of shots at the home of the Palestinian president.

Police said there was some shooting near the house during the funeral for a policeman who had been killed during earlier clashes with gunmen. Abbas was said not to have been at his residence at the time.
