Tsunami alert after undersea quake
A tsunami alert was issued today after a powerful undersea earthquake struck near Fiji.
No damage or injuries were immediately reported following the quake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 6.3. It struck at 3.16pm local time (3.16am Irish time) about 155 miles north east of Vanua Levu, the main tourist spot in Fiji’s chain of islands, at a depth of 18 miles, the US Geological Survey reported.
