Nuremberg was marking the 60th anniversary today of the post-war trial of some of Nazi Germany’s top leaders, a landmark process that ushered in a new era of international law.

In the oak-panelled Courtroom 600 of the Nuremberg Palace of Justice on November 20, 1945, Hermann Goering, Rudolf Hess, Joachim von Ribbentrop and 18 other high-ranking Nazis pleaded not guilty to a panel of judges representing the victorious allies – the US, Soviet Union, Britain and France.
