Separatist group claims responsibility for New Delhi blasts

An unknown group calling itself Inquilab, meaning 'revolution', claims to have carried out the bomb attacks in New Delhi.

At least 61 people were killed and 188 injured at the three marketplace bomb sites.

In calls to reporters in Indian Kashmir, the group said the attacks will continue unless India pulls out of the disputed state.

Investigators have arrested 22 people in raids on dozens of small hotels across the Indian capital as they hunt for suspects.

The Indian government faces opposition from dozens of militant groups - particularly Kashmiri separatists, some of whom also oppose the peace process between Pakistan and India.

Most of the deaths occurred at the southern Sarojini Nagar market, where the blast caused a number of gas cylinders used by stallkeepers to explode.

Another was at Paharganj, an area frequented by tourists near New Delhi's main railway station.

A third blast occurred on a bus in the capital's Okhla industrial area.

But quick thinking by the bus driver, who hurled the device out of the vehicle as it exploded, prevented a number of deaths, police said.
