Newborn baby found dead in Phoenix Airport rubbish bin
The body of a baby girl was found in a rubbish bin in a women’s toilet at Phoenix Airport.
The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached, but police did not believe the child was born in the toilets, said police spokesman Detective Tony Morales.
A maintenance worker found the body yesterday morning in Sky Harbour International Airport’s largest terminal, police said.
Officers did not know whether the baby was born alive. An autopsy would be conducted.
“You think you’ve seen everything… then something like this,” said Aviation Director David Krietor . “It’s very sad.”
Airport officials said that all security tapes were turned over to police, but there were no security cameras near the room where the baby was found.
