Heathrow gang begin long stretch behind bars
A gang is starting a total of nearly 70 years behind bars, for trying to carry out one of biggest robberies in Britain.
Eight men ram-raided a warehouse at Heathrow Airport last year in an attempt to steal millions of pounds worth of diamonds, gold and foreign currency.
Workers at a cago warehouse had just unloaded a consignment of Peruvian gold bars which had arrived on a KLM flight.
The plan was foiled by detectives who were sitting in wait near the Swissport cargo warehouse on May 17th 2004.
A ninth man who fled on foot has never been tracked down.
Police say they have also yet to track down the inside man at Swissport who gave the gang vital information on the day of the raid.
