Girl, 12, dies at Disney World water park

A 12-year-old girl died after collapsing at a Disney World water park in Florida.

She was seen lying next to a wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon but told lifeguards she was fine, police said.

When she tried to stand up she collapsed and never regained consciousness. Lifeguards performed CPR until paramedics arrived but she was pronounced dead at hospital a short time later.

The girl was with family from Virginia and had no known medical problems. Her death is under investigation.

British teenager Leanne Deacon suffered a heart attack at the popular resort last month.

The 16-year-old from Kibworth, Leicestershire, remains in a critical condition in Florida having collapsed when she got off the Tower of Terror ride on July 12.

A four-year-old died at the park in June after passing out on Epcot’s Space Mission ride which simulates a shuttle ride to Mars. Authorities are awaiting results of an autopsy.
