Police cordon off rooms in London hospital
It emerged tonight that three small rooms in an unoccupied part of London's University College Hospital remained cordoned off tonight.
In a statement the hospital said: “Police have confirmed that there is no danger to patients or staff.
“Armed police conducted a search of the hospital this afternoon following the terrorist incident at Warren Street tube station and this search has now been completed.
“Three small rooms in an unoccupied part of the hospital have been cordoned off and police inquiries are still continuing.
“The hospital itself is within the area of streets still cordoned off following the terrorist incident.”
“We are cancelling routine appointments and surgery tomorrow for patients not already in the hospital.
“We are asking patients not to come to the hospital unless they are emergencies.
“Staff should report for work as normal but will be required to show their hospital identity.
“Access for all staff and emergency patients will only be through the Ambulance Emergency Entrance off Gower Street.”
Robert Naylor, Trust Chief Executive, said: “Our first priority has been the safety and welfare of patients and staff.
“Throughout this afternoon we have worked closely with the police in their investigations while maintaining emergency services.
“We hope to return the hospital to normality as soon as possible.”
