Italy’s interior minister today proposed a package of sweeping anti-terrorism measures to parliament that would allow police to detain suspects longer without charge.

Saying Italy could be exposed to terrorist attacks following last week’s bombings in London, interior minister Giuseppe Pisanu also suggested giving police greater investigative powers as well as incentives for those helping investigators bring down terrorist cells.
