China hotel fire kills 30

A fire engulfed the top three floors of a hotel in southern China, killing 30 people, the official Xinhua News Agency reported today.

The fire broke out at noon yesterday at the Huanan Hotel in Shantou, a city in Guangdong province, and swept through the top stories of the four-story building, the agency said.
