Britain’s most senior police officer today warned al-Qaida are targeting Britain – and called for new laws to tackle terrorist conspiracies.

Sir Ian Blair, Metropolitan Police Commissioner, also urged “further consideration” of whether to introduce compulsory ID cards, and said iris recognition technology would help track terrorist suspects.
