One dead as explosion rocks Lebanon

A loud explosion rocked Beirut today, killing one person and injuring 12 others.

A plume of black smoke rose over Lebanese capital’s waterfront. The explosion, near a luxury hotel, shook buildings in the city centre and was heard as far away as the eastern hills.
