The question to be asked in the British referendum on the EU constitution will be “Should the United Kingdom approve the treaty establishing a constitution for the European Union?”

The question to go on the ballot papers was disclosed when UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw published the European Union Bill, which provides for the UK to ratify the treaty subject to the referendum.
