Israel tries to scupper Syrian missile deal

Israel is trying to halt Russia selling advanced anti-aircraft missiles to Syria, fearing they could fall into the hands of Lebanese guerrillas.

Israeli officials acknowledged today that there is tension between Israel and Moscow and a deputy Russian foreign minister is in the region to discuss the matter.
