Bomb kills three Iraqi soldiers outside Baghdad
A roadside bomb exploded near an Iraqi National Guard patrol south of Baghdad, killing three guardsmen and wounding 11, an official said today.
The guardsmen were patrolling an area near Jebala, 37 miles south of Baghdad, when the attack occurred, said an Iraqi National Guard official.
The National Guard and other homegrown Iraqi security forces are frequently targeted by insurgents, who accuse them of collaborating with US-led occupation forces.
