Iraqi executed for murdering two Saudis

Saudi authorities beheaded an Iraqi man today convicted of killing a Saudi man and his son, the Interior Ministry said.

Dakhil bin Fahd al-Ghuleidhawy was found guilty of killing Barghash bin Shiryan al-Muteiri and his son Khaled due t a financial dispute.

The two men were shot dead, the statement said, without specifying the date of the murders.

Al-Ghuleidhawy was executed today in the eastern province of Qaryat Al-Ulya, about 187 miles north-east of Riyadh, the statement said.

His execution brings to 22 the number of people beheaded in the kingdom this year.

Last year, at least 52 people, most of them drug smugglers, were executed.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of drug trafficking, murder, rape and armed robbery are executed. Beheadings are carried out in public with a sword.
