Key terror suspect arrested

Indonesian police have arrested a key terror suspect wanted for the 2002 Bali bombings, last year’s attack on a Jakarta hotel and a suicide blast in September at the Australian embassy.

Rois, alias Iwan Darmawan, was arrested at a rail station on Java island on November 10.

Police announced they were hunting for Darmawan two weeks after the embassy attack. They said then he was believed to be on the run with the attack’s alleged masterminds, Malaysian militants Azahari bin Husin and Noordin Mohamed Top.

An Indonesian newspaper reported that Darmawan was involved in the Bali bombings, which killed 202 people, including more than 20 young Britons, and a car bomb attack on the JW Marriott Hotel that killed 12 people.
