The Iraqi government plans to reopen Baghdad International Airport to civilian flights on Monday, the office of Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said.

The airport was closed for 48 hours under a state of emergency announced November 7 and the extension has been repeatedly extended.

However, it appeared the decision was taken to reopen the airport because of the winding down of fighting in Fallujah.
