UN votes to pressure Lebanon to defy Syria

A deeply divided UN Security Council has narrowly approved a resolution aimed at pressuring Lebanon to reject a second term for its pro-Syrian president.

The council has also called for an immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces – an indirect reference to Syrian troops.
