Floods hit Istanbul after overnight storm

Rescuers scrambled through waist-deep water to help dozens of residents leave their flooded homes in Istanbul, where heavy overnight rains caused a stream to overflow into a working-class district.

Relief workers were using heavy machines to divert the flood waters from Alibeykoy, the worst-hit neighbourhood where dozens were stranded after refusing to evacuate.
