Mugabe snubs UN envoy

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan’s special envoy for humanitarian needs in southern Africa called off a visit to Zimbabwe today after being snubbed by President Robert Mugabe and his top officials.

The decision underscores a deepening rift between the UN and Zimbabwe, which says it no longer needs emergency food aid.
