Injured boy, seven, walks mile to save dad

A badly hurt seven-year-old boy who walked a mile to get help for his injured father was concerned only for his dad’s well-being, his proud mother said today.

Tyler Moon and his father David, 39, were seriously injured when they were thrown from their quad bike during a Saturday ride on a neighbour’s property at Milton, in New South Wales.

With his father suffering serious chest injuries, Tyler – who had life-threatening rib injuries which later caused his lungs to collapse – walked a mile home to get help.

The father and son were recovering in separate hospitals today as emergency services said they would nominate the youngster for a bravery award.

Tyler’s mother Gail hailed her son as a hero and said he had been worried only about his injured father.

“I was not aware of how serious Tyler’s injuries were until we got (to hospital),” Ms Moon said.

“When he came to the home all he said was he had a sore arm and Daddy needed help. Daddy was his biggest concern and as soon as he opened his eyes the first thing he said was: ’Where’s my dad?’."
