Four more warrants in train bomb probe
Interpol has issued notices for four more Moroccans wanted in connection with the March 11 Madrid train bombings that killed 191 people, the international police organisation said.
The four new notices bring to 10 the number issued by Interpol to police in its 181 member states.
European arrest warrants have already been issued for the four.
The new suspects sought by Spanish authorities are Hicham Ahmidan, Mohamed Belhadj, Abdelmajid Bouchar and Mohamed Afala, Interpol said. Interpol took the action on a request from Spain.
Islamic militants have been blamed for the bombings.
Of the 18 jailed so far, 14 are Moroccans. The focus of the probe is on the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, an al-Qaida-linked movement that is tied to an organisation blamed for last year’s suicide bombings in Casablanca which left 45 people dead including 12 attackers.
Spanish Investigating Judge Juan del Olmo has identified Belhadj as the man who rented an apartment where seven suspects blew themselves up on April 3 as police prepared to storm their apartment.
