Priest found murdered in Colombia

A Roman Catholic priest who was missing in Colombia for a week has been found shot dead.

The Rev Jose Rubin Rodriguez was the second priest killed by suspected rebels during the past three weeks in the state of Arauca, an oil-rich north-eastern region where rebels, government forces and right-wing paramilitary troops battle for control.

General Eduardo Morales, the deputy commander of the army, said it was unclear why the priests were shot, although clergymen regularly anger rebels by speaking out against guerrilla violence.
