North Korea issues 'nuclear deterrent' threat

North Korea warned today that it must develop a “nuclear deterrence” if the United States did not give up what the communist country considered a hostile stance.

The statement by North Korea’s state-run media marked the first time Pyongyang had referred to nuclear, rather than physical deterrence, signifying an escalation in the harsh language it routinely uses.
