Allies trade fire with Iraqis in central Iraq

American marines took at least 20 Iraqi prisoners today during a firefight in and around the central town of Diwaniyah.

US jets also bombed defensive positions south of Baghdad overnight and dropped bombs on an Iraqi presidential yacht and another ship in the southern port of Basra, officials said.
