Suspected rebel captured in Colombia
Police captured a suspected rebel linked to recent bomb attacks in Colombia’s capital city, authorities said.
Police believe Edgar Morea, 36, also known as Javier Tanga, is an explosives expert with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, Colombia’s largest rebel group.
He is suspected as having trained rebels who detonated a suitcase bomb in December in a Bogota hotel frequented by politicians.
Police say Morea allegedly was plotting to blow up three bridges that connect Bogota with southern Colombia, police said.
Five others were also arrested and police said they seized metal cone-shaped devices that were to be filled with explosives and used in the bridge attacks.
