Air France cancels 10% of flights as pilots strike
Air France cancelled about 10% of its flights today as pilots demanding higher wages walked off the job for the second time this month.
Alternate flights were being provided for passengers affected by the four-day strike, which began at midnight last night and ends on Thursday.
The strike was called by the largest Air France pilots’ union, SNPL, and two smaller unions over a pay dispute that has dragged on for months.
Unions claim a draft accord to meet salary demands reached late last year has been rejected by the majority of pilots.
Pilots launched a similar four-day strike at the beginning of this month, which forced the airline to cancel 10% of international flights and 13% of European and domestic flights.
Air France said management deplored the unions’ tendency to systematically choose for strike action rather than talks.
