Terror pilot is mentally disturbed - police

The armed man who threatened to crash a stolen light plane into Frankfurt’s financial district, sowing fear of terrorist attack and prompting the evacuation of skyscrapers, is mentally disturbed, police said today.

The 31-year-old German circled in a motorised glider for about two hours on Sunday among the German banking capital’s tallest buildings, saying he wanted to draw attention to Judith Resnik, a US astronaut killed in the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger in 1986.
