'Three injured' in UK axe attack
Three people have been injured after an axe man went berserk in Waltham Abbey, Essex.
Police arrested a man in connection with an attack on stained glass windows in the historic abbey.
Two people were injured in the attack, including a 62-year-old man in a serious condition with head and back injuries, Essex Police said.
Ms Jewson says the man ran into the church, carrying two axes.
"He just really ran amok into the church and wrecked it - the pulpits, the organ, a very old stained glass window, the rear at the back of the altar - it has been very badly damaged," she told the BBC.
Canon Martin Webster, vicar of the abbey, said the attack started when a man became involved in a dispute some distance from the abbey.
After damaging vehicles he burst into the church, with an axe in either hand.
Mr Webster said the man damaged the altar, lectern, pulpit, organ and stained glassed windows.
"Virtually no part of the church was left undamaged," he said. "It lasted for five or six minutes. It was not a long attack but it caused a huge amount of damage.
