Athens' mayor escapes assassin's bullet
Athens’ mayor elect escaped assassination today when a gunman fired at her car, wounding the driver.
The attack took place near Dora Bakoyianni’s office in the Greek capital. She was elected in October and is to be sworn-in on January 1.
Bakoyianni’s husband, Pavlos, was killed by the November 17 terror group in 1989. Their last victim was the British military attache, Brigadier Stephen Saunders.
Greek police began arresting members of the secretive group following a botched bombing in June.
