Outrage at Bali suspect's attitude
Television images of the chief suspect in the Bali bombings laughing and smiling with Indonesian police sparked outrage in Australia today.
“Their sort of ugly, sneering, amused attitude at the slaughter of innocent people is just horrific,” said foreign minister Alexander Downer.
In a bizarre public interrogation, Indonesian suspect Amrozi told police he was “delighted” by the carnage of the October 12 blasts that tore through a nightclub district in Kuta Beach, a resort popular with Australian tourists, and killing nearly 200 people, including 32 Britons.
