Danielle's lipgloss found in uncle's loft, court hears

A tube of lipgloss identical to one owned by teenager Danielle Jones was found in the house of the uncle accused of her murder, a court heard today.

A jury at Chelmsford Crown Court was told the item was discovered in Stuart Campbell’s loft on June 23, 2001, five days after his niece disappeared.

Campbell, 44, from Grays, Essex, denies kidnapping and murdering the 15-year-old.

Danielle Jones from East Tilbury, Essex, was last seen on June 18 last year walking to catch the bus to school.

One of her close friends told the jury they both bought the same brand and type of lipgloss during a trip to the Lakeside shopping centre on June 9.

In court the 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was handed a clear plastic evidence bag containing the lipgloss found at Campbell’s home.

The court heard it looked identical to the one bought by Danielle, although the brush section had since been cut off.
