Huntley arrives for third court appearance
Former school caretaker Ian Huntley today arrived in a blacked out van for his third court appearance accused of murdering Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
The 28-year-old, of Soham in Britain, who is also accused of conspiring to pervert the course of justice, arrived at Peterborough Crown Court in a van flanked by three police escort cars.
The one-way street outside was closed off allowing Huntley’s convoy to drive the wrong way along it, the most direct route into the complex.
There was no repeat of the mob scenes at his previous appearances.
Huntley, who is being held at Rampton High Security Hospital in Nottinghamshire under the terms of the Mental Health Act, is yet to enter a plea to the judges.
He was caretaker at Soham Village College when Holly and Jessica, both 10, vanished.
His partner Maxine Carr, 25, a former teaching assistant in Holly and Jessica’s class at St Andrew’s Primary School, Soham, is accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Carr, also of Soham, is being held at Holloway Prison, North London, pending trial.
Holly and Jessica went missing on August 4 after being seen walking near their homes in Soham. Their bodies were found in a ditch at Lakenheath, Suffolk, on August 17.
