Break-in at Bruce Forsyth’s mansion

Robbers broke in to TV star Bruce Forsyth’s home and seriously injured his housekeeper, British police said today.

The legendary quiz show host was in Scotland when the three men broke in to his home on the private Wentworth Estate, Virgina Water, Surrey, last night.

But his wife and 15-year-old son were at home when the men broke in at about midnight, stealing cash and jewellery.

A Surrey Police spokesman said that the robbers fled after causing the woman housekeeper serious facial injuries.

Mr Forsyth, who returned immediately from Muirfield after hearing the news, said in a statement: ‘‘I am deeply shocked and upset by the attack.

‘‘My wife, son and housekeeper acted with considerable courage.’’

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Humphreys said that officers were studying CCTV footage from the estate and carrying out house-to-house inquiries.

He added: ‘‘This was a particularly disturbing incident and we want to hear from anyone who may have any information.’’

The housekeeper has been discharged from hospital.
